Businesses, start-ups, researchers, agricultural professionals, developers, and pre-selected students will meet at the #DigitAg Challenge with one objective: inventing the digital services of tomorrow. The issues are to show the positive impact of open data to boost innovation and to prepare some application that a future agricultural data portal could host.

Following the recommendations of the Agriculture Innovation 2025 report released by the French Ministry of Agriculture, this data portal for innovation in agriculture will bring together and make accessible these public and private data from the agricultural sector. At the heart of an issue of sovereignty and competition, this portal created and managed by the agricultural sector is preparing for the big data future of French agriculture.

The #DigitAg Challenge will be built based on the needs of the agricultural sectors updated by the exchange workshop #ImagineAgri that the Ministry of Agriculture held in March of this year and by contributions from the public. The event will be preceded by selections organized by competitive groups in the agricultural sectors in several cities across France (Montpellier, Bordeaux, Angers, Lyon, Avignon, Saint-Denis in Réunion and Clermont Ferrand). These semifinals will take the form of workshops and will end with the selection of the best regional teams. The winners will then face off in Montpellier on July 1 and 2.

Business teams, start-ups, groups of students, researchers, developers, and others are all being invited to participate in this hackathon for the agriculture of tomorrow. Anyone wanting to provide their talents for the creation of new digital agricultural services can contribute. The only criteria required is motivation and high spirits!

After the challenge, the winners will be supported in bringing their projects to fruition and will benefit from media buzz in the specialized and professional press.
